The rest of the week

Because I was consumed by the party planning, I haven’t had much time to update the blog this week. I thought I would share some pictures and stories of the girls from today and the rest of the week.
...
Tonight we took out their kiddie pool for the first time this year. Last year we tried going in it every night, as this is Grace’s favorite thing to do. Ava was still too small yet to go in. Not this year! She splashed, crawled around and just kept getting in and out of the pool.

Here is Grace's face when Nick told her that we had to go in.

I took the girls inside to get their PJ’s on and Nick stayed out to clean up the toys. Grace started looking around for him and shouting “Oh Toodles!” This is a tool Mickey calls for when he needs to find something. I was laughing so hard that I almost didn’t notice her hands up around her eyes like binoculars (Notice the picture below). Yes, another thing from Mickey Mouse. She was looking for her Dad.

Then we finally ate dinner at 8:00 p.m. – that is right, we ate dinner after they normally are in bed. The whole party has just thrown off our schedule. When we put food in front of Ava’s spot, she immediately began pounding on it and laughing. Guess we encouraged her a little too much to smash her cake today! Needless to say, we had puffs and goldfish all around our dining room floor. Tonight Grace asked to eat with chopsticks, she here she sits eating Jimmy Johns and pasta salad with chopsticks.

She got it!
Ava's new face. What a character already.
Grace always wants to help clean. Wonder when this will end?!

I accidentally left our my paper and pen from making a grocery list and here is what I find. She is even holding the pen right! Grace didn't have any idea what to do at this age.
...
Yesterday (Friday) we went out for sushi and Chinese. Ava just couldn’t get enough of the miso soup. She wanted to do it herself and every time we had to put another spoonful of soup in the bowl, she shouted for her bowl back. Grace loves the soup too, but she goes for a more “American” approach to soup slurping. Grace slurps soup so loud and says “mmm” after each spoonful. Some pictures from my camera phone are below.
